Prof. Meher Bhoot

Meher Bhoot is Associate Professor at the Department of German, University of Mumbai and presently the Head of the Department. Her areas of interest include German Literature with a focus on Literature of the German minorities, Postcolonial Studies and Culture Studies. Her doctoral thesis was titled Cultural Identity and Interculturality in the Works of Rafik Schami. She has been a DAAD Fellow and the recipient of Rotary Cultural and Ambassadorial Scholarship. Currently she is at the Department of Intercultural German Studies, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen as a Guest Professor within the framework of the German Institutes Partnership (GIP) between the Universities of Göttingen, Mumbai and Pune, where the ongoing project is on Multiligualism and is being funded by DAAD. She has co-authored Einfach menschlich. Kurzprosa aus Indien (2011), Interkulturelle Momente. Hundred Years of German Studies at the University of Mumbai (2014), Revisiting Günter Grass. Voices from India and Germany (2017).
