Prof. Hu Cheng

Hu Cheng, a professor of Contemporary Chinese History at Nanjing University, completed his PhD at Nanjing University in 1998. His primary field of interest is medical history in Modern China and cultural interaction between China and the US. He has published in both Chinese and English, including books and journal articles on subjects like missionary hospitals in Modern China, Japan’s influence on Chinese medical development, and Shanghai and Nanjing’s prostitution prohibition movement in 1919 and the 1930s. He is currently working on a book manuscript on the “Rockefeller Foundation and Modern China (1914-1966).”

He was hosted at the platform in July and August 2017.
